469: Saving large scores is sometimes slow in Sibelius 4 (Windows only)
Occasionally, you may discover that Sibelius 4 for Windows takes longer to save a large score than earlier versions. Symptoms include the busy (hourglass) mouse pointer appearing for a few seconds when you save, or Sibelius appearing to stop responding for a few seconds after saving or when auto-saving.
This is due to the fact that Sibelius 4 uses more memory (RAM) than previous versions of Sibelius. As a result, your computer is more likely to need to use virtual memory (i.e. store some elements from RAM on disk until required again), which may result in occasional delays during some operations in Sibelius when memory is paged from disk and/or buffers are flushed.
This problem is particularly likely to occur if you have a relatively small amount of RAM in your computer (e.g. 512Mb or less), work in Sibelius for long periods without restarting the program, and work on muliple open files at the same time, at least one of which is large (e.g. greater than 200K).
Possible solutions include increasing the memory (RAM) in your computer.
