374: Wheel mouse - sticky Alt key when using the wheel with Sibelius 3 on Windows

When using the wheel button on your mouse to navigate around the score in Sibelius 3 and above on Windows, you can hold down the Alt key to move a screen (or a page) at a time.

Because Alt is also the shortcut for accessing menu items on Windows, you may find that you have to type Alt again after scrolling with the wheel button before you can continue scrolling in another direction.

This isn't a bug in Sibelius, because it's standard Windows behavior. You can change Windows's standard behavior by adjusting an option in Control Panel.

On Windows XP, for example:

  • Go to Start > Control Panel
  • Double-click Display
  • Choose the Appearance tab
  • Click the Effects button
  • Switch off Hide underlined letters for keyboard navigation until I press the Alt key
