195: Installing Sibelius on multi-user Windows 2000/XP computers
To install Sibelius on a Windows 2000/XP computer that is used by more than one person, you should first log on as a user with Administrator privileges. Then install Sibelius as normal, following the instructions in Installing Sibelius for Windows in the Sibelius User Guide.
This installs Sibelius for use only by the Administrator user on the computer. To allow other users to use Sibelius:
- Move the C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Start Menu\Programs\Sibelius Software folder to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs
- Add permissions to the Sibelius Software Start menu folder for all users and groups
- Ensure that the C:\Program Files\Sibelius Software folder also has permissions for all users
To make sure all of the users have the Example Scores folder:
- First make a copy of the scores folder from C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents to your Desktop and delete the Backup Scores folder from it. This is so that each user doesn?t have a copy of that.
- Copy the Scores folder from your Desktop to all of the users' My Documents folders, e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\Guest\My Documents. Hint: to save time for multiple accounts, you may want to write a script which does this for you
- If you have created new accounts as an Administrator and can not see the My Documents folder to paste in the Scores folder, you need to log in as them and then log out again so Windows completes their full account.
