193: Transferring Sibelius - procedure fails, Sibelius ends up unregistered

For details on how to transfer the saving function of Sibelius from one computer to another, see Transferring Sibelius in your User Guide.

(After upgrading to the latest version of Sibelius, owners of single-copy licenses for Sibelius are permitted to install and register Sibelius on two computers, provided they are used exclusively and non-simultaneously by the license holder.)

If the transfer procedure fails (perhaps because you mistyped a transfer number) and no longer have Sibelius registered on either computer, please do the following:

Mac users

• Ensure you have a backup of any scores you have created; these are normally saved in the Scores folder inside your Sibelius program folder
• Drag your Sibelius 2 or Sibelius folder (depending on whether you are a Sibelius 2 or a Sibelius 1.x user) to the Trash icon on your desktop
• Reinstall Sibelius from the most recent CD-ROM you have (if, say, your original CD-ROM was v1.2, but you have since been sent a v1.4 CD-ROM, you can reinstall directly from the v1.4 CD-ROM - no need to install v1.2 first).
• Now click here to re-register.

When emailing technical support to re-register, don't forget to include your Sibelius serial number (from the back of your Sibelius CD-ROM case) and the new Computer Number that appears when you start Sibelius and it prompts you to register.

Windows users

• Uninstall Sibelius on the computer on which you need to use Sibelius at the moment. To uninstall, choose Start > Programs > Sibelius Software > Uninstall Sibelius
• Double-click My Computer, then double-click the C: icon, then double-click the Program Files folder, and finally double-click the Sibelius Software folder
• If you are using Sibelius 2, now delete the Sibelius 2 folder
• If you are using Sibelius 1.x, now delete the Sibelius folder
• Restart the computer
• Reinstall Sibelius from the most recent CD-ROM you have (if, say, your original CD-ROM was v1.105, but you have since been sent a v1.4 CD-ROM, you can reinstall directly from the v1.4 CD-ROM - no need to install v1.105 first).
• If necessary (e.g. if you are using Sibelius 1.x and your latest CD-ROM is a version earlier than 1.4), download and install an update from here
• Now click here to re-register.
