183: Playback - starting playback directly after a rit./accel. line produces erratic tempo
The problem occurs when commencing playback from a position between the end of a rit. line and the following bar line. The symptom is that when you begin playback, the tempo counter 'counts down' from the tempo at the start of the rit. to the tempo at the end of the rit., but then playback itself begins at the tempo at the start of the bar, not the tempo at the end of the rit. This is particularly confusing for multi-bar rit. lines, as playback will eventually commence at the tempo the rit. line had achieved at the end of the previous bar, which is somewhere in between the start and end tempo!
This has been fixed in subsequent versions of Sibelius - click here to upgrade.
Alternatively, you can get around this problem by starting playback either from within the rit. line (where the strange tempo 'countdown' will still occur, but the tempo eventually reached will be correct) or start playback from the start of the next bar (where there won't be any problems).
