From what I gather, Sibelius 4 will work in Vista using the so-called XP Compatibility Mode. I read from one of Daniel's recent posts that an official statement regarding Sibelius's compatibility with Vista will be ready very soon. I tried to look for it yesterday, but couldn't find it. It shouldn't be too long to wait for it.

I did a search on the chat page for the past 10 days with "Vista" in the subject heading only. Here's what I found:

Does this include compatibility with 64-bit versions of Vista?

We haven't done as much testing on the 64-bit versions of Windows Vista, but we are reasonably sure that our advice holds for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Note that none of our applications are themselves currently 64-bit.

I wonder whether Sibelius 6.4 would give us better sight reading or
tuning in performances then...

No, really: What could be advantages of 64 bit versions? Probably there
is a use with complex floating point arithmetics on the audio rendering
part of the game, but on the notation side?

Daniel,

It appears that most of the links on the Vista page all point to topic 512.

One "obvious" improvement: you could create scores where the .sib file size was bigger than 2Gb. If you needed 1,000,000 different high resolution graphic images for your next avant-garde notation project, that could be very useful ;-)

More seriously, the big advantage for 64 bit audio rendering would be the ability to address more physical RAM.
